How to stop Auto Play in HTML5 Video in Chrome or Firefox?
Adobe (or Macromedia) Flash Videos have been exploited by the web advertisers. Same has started with HTML5 based videos.
Imagine you are sitting in your quiet office and are browsing. You open a website, all of sudden a video starts playing automatically. Annoying!
Chrome Plugin Disable HTML5 Autoplay |
Fortunately, there is a solution available on Chrome and Firefox. There is a chrome extension available called, 'Disable HTML5 Autoplay'. You may install the same and stop audio and video autoplay on all websites.
On Firefox, browser configuration comes handy. You can do the following:
1. Open Firefox
2. Type about:config in the address bar. Accept the warning.
3. Type autoplay
4. Click on the boolean 'true' to switch to 'off' value.
On Safari I couldn't find any good solution. However, there is Safari extension 'ClickToPlugin' available in which you can add its plugin to stop loading videos from certain sites like BBC, DailyMotion, Facebook etc.
